The hotel has been reburbished to a good standard and was clean, pleasant and comfortable thorughout. We were given a large and light room at the front of the hotel, which although overlooking the road was very quiet. The room had an ensuite which contained a toilet and bath with shower. The wash hand basin was in another part of the bedroom, which was an odd arrangement. The room was spotlessly clean and well laid out. Staff were helpful and willing to take time with visitors. Check in and out were smooth. There is free wifi, but it is only available in the public areas. Staff were very accommodating and helped me find a suitable socket to plug in my laptop. Breakfast was enjoyable with great veggie sausages.
~~Birnam Full Stop - Full stop as it ticked all the boxes - attractive old building with traditional common areas but trendy and spacious bedrooms. The restaurant food looked excellent and the breakfast certainly was - pizzas served in the Inn looked awesome and we'll try them next time. It was a treat to see Inveralmond Inkie Pinkie ale and the variety is changed regularly. Great base to discover or rediscover Perthshire and beyond.

Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. The chef should get a special mention. Our dinner was lovely and so was the cooked breakfast the following morning. They certainly do cook everything fresh as it says in the menu. I like a cooked breakfast and even though I like scrambled eggs, I never have hotel scrambled eggs because they are always mass produced and don't taste anything like individually, home-made scrambled eggs. My wife took scrambled eggs and I was envious. Individually made to order and looked and tasted fantastic (I stole some from her !!!).

Very nice hotel, staff made us very welcome, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious my husband said the fish was the best he’s tasted in a long time. I am disabled and booked a ground floor but when we got there we got a choice of which room to have we chose the first floor as it had an original double door lift you only see in the movies, the room was tidy and clean great for walkers etc.

I decided to take my daughter (3) for a short break. We chose the Birnam hotel in Perthshire, it looked lovely from the website, so we booked two nights in a twin room.
We arrived and saw the beautiful grand building, and were greeted by the lovely hotel owner, who showed us to our room. The room was absolutely lovely, with very modern decor. A very modern television and lovely touches like nice hand wash and shower gel. It is a three star hotel but definitely feels more like a four. It is an old building, and still has some original features, which really adds to the lovely warm atmosphere of the place.
We wandered around the beautiful building looking round at all the artwork and my daughter just loved the grand staircase and mirrors.
On the first night we ate at the Birnam Inn, just beside the hotel, An Italian restaurant, specialising in Pizza, which is exactly what we had. And my, what a pizza! Gorgeous, and great service from the waiting staff. Very friendly and efficient. The decor is very modern and very clean, comfortable with stunning artwork on the walls.
We had a drink in the hotel bar, and ALL of the staff were over talking to my daughter. She felt very special and loved the attention. It’s unfortunate that a three year old can be noisy, and this hotel has lots of big corridors and halls to run around, But the staff were more than understanding, so she had a ball!
Breakfast was absolutely lovely and all very organised. We were in at a particularly busy time, and was served by a very friendly waitress who fast became my daughter's favourite. We then went walking around the stunning woodland behind the hotel and a lovely wander into Dunkeld, 10 minutes along the road. Dunkeld itself is just lovely, quaint and very interesting.
That day we had lunch in Scots bar in the hotel. The food was just gorgeous, and again, unfortunately my daughter had an apple juice spillage, which was dealt with quickly and the waiter was very understanding as he cleaned it up.
We liked Scots bar so much that we returned for our dinner that day. I have eaten in a lot of restaurants, This food can only be compared to the best I have eaten in. Absolutely beautiful. Normally I complain when my daughter doesn’t eat all of her food, but I was hoping she would leave some for me ! She didn’t, though. The price of dinner was fantastic value, And I wish I lived closer, we would eat there every weekend.
We had the most lovely, relaxing and special two days there. It is in a lovely setting, with a beautiful garden and exhibition centre over the road, which is great for the kids. she kept herself happy for hours playing in the garden. Also five minutes behind the hotel we found a lovely little park, and a path which opens up onto the river, and the famous "Birnam oak". We had a great time running around the woods.
I have already recommended three people to the hotel, and am taking my husband and daughter again in the summer. It was a fabulous break, very relaxing. Made better by our beautiful room, and all the brilliant staff. (who my daughter insisted that we say goodbye to one by one on the way out, and each of them gave her a hug...... it is now her new favourite holiday. )

Good parking - easy to access off the main road and parking is right in front of the hotel - easy for luggage etc. Very nice restaurant with cheery, helpful staff - excellent full Scottish breakfast and the salmon we had with dinner was delicious. Friendly helpful management. Nice cosy bar - also very pleasant for a tea or coffee. The Burns Supper we attended was excellent - the whole meal and ambiance of the Baronial Hall were superb. Our room was clean and well. We will certainly wish to return - Birnam and Dunkeld have a great deal to offer and the Birnam Hotel makes an ideal base which is value for money..
